Position
Narrow on purpose
The easiest way to build a tooling programme is to make it wide. Add a grade for every material chart column, publish a number for every speed, and let the customer work out which combination applies to them. It sells, and it puts the engineering burden on the wrong side of the transaction.
We started in 2014 with four substrates and one coating line, on the position that a grade should be specified for a material group rather than sold as a universal answer. That constraint has shaped everything since — nineteen families, six grades, one dimensional system, and cutting data that states its limiting factor instead of quoting a maximum.
The result is a programme you can standardise on. Fewer part numbers to manage, fewer surprises between lots, and a documented answer when a regulated customer asks where a tool came from.
How we work
Three steps, in this order
- 01
Understand the operation
Material specification and condition, machine and spindle, fixture rigidity, coolant delivery, and what the current tool is doing wrong. If it is easier to send the drawing, send the drawing.
- 02
Specify and prove
A named tool with starting cutting data and the limiting factor identified. Trial quantities go out against an agreed measure of success — usually parts per edge or a surface finish target.
- 03
Document and repeat
Once it works, the specification is fixed against a part number. Geometry, edge preparation and coating are measured on every subsequent lot so the tool stays the tool.

Four things we do not compromise on
The recommendation is specific
A part number and a reason, not a family and a range. If we do not have the right tool, we say so.
The data states its limit
Every cutting parameter is published with the factor that constrains it, so you know what to change first.
The record survives the order
Inspection results and retained samples are held for ten years against the part number.
The answer comes from an engineer
Enquiries are read by people who machine, in English, German or French. No ticket queue.
Reach
Twenty-eight countries, one part-number system
Technical documentation is maintained in English, German and French against identical references, so a group operating in three countries is not reconciling three catalogues.

The first grade programme
ValoCarbide begins with a narrow range: four substrates, one coating line, and a stated position that a grade should be specified for a material group rather than sold as a universal answer.

Solid carbide added
Round-tool families are introduced alongside inserts, with the dimensional system unified so that a drill, reamer and chamfer tool in the same operation share one reference logic.
- 2018
Quality system certified
ISO 9001 certification formalises what was already practice: incoming verification on every lot, retained samples, and a traceable record from raw substrate to despatch note.
- 2021
European stock programme
A held-stock programme is introduced for the fastest-moving 1,800 references, cutting the wait on a replacement tool from weeks to days across the continent.
- 2023
Engineered tooling desk
A dedicated engineering desk starts taking component drawings directly, returning a tool design and cutting simulation before anything is committed to production.
- 2026
Twenty-eight countries
The programme now reaches twenty-eight European countries, with technical documentation maintained in English, German and French against the same part numbers.
